Hub for ecosystem science in Sweden
SITES focuses on terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems and recognizes the connectivity of elements within landscapes and between regions. Terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems are tightly interlinked and their changing features interactively influence the atmosphere. Biological communities interact with these physical environments, which drive biogeochemical and ecological processes. Thus, SITES focuses on four Ecosystem Themes (including the connectivity between them): Aquatic, Terrestrial, Atmospheric, and Biological.

Aquatic monitoring and experiments connecting elements within and between landscapes

Long-term terrestrial monitoring and experiments within agricultural land, forests & wetlands

Focus on the integration of land-water-atmosphere interactions

Wildlife tracking and biodiversity linked to aquatic and terrestrial observations and experiments
