After undergoing a rigorous quality assurance process, Mycklemossen at the Skogaryd Research Catchment (SRC) has achieved the status of an ICOS-labelled station. This certification was confirmed by the ICOS General Assembly on November 6th, 2024.
ICOS ensures data reliability and quality at all its stations through a quality assurance process called station labelling. This process involves strict criteria for measurement practices and data production. Stations that meet these requirements earn the ICOS label, signifying that their data adheres to the highest standards. All certified data is freely accessible on the ICOS Carbon Portal.
Key personnel at SRC have worked diligently to collect the data required for labelling, with some tasks still ongoing and planned for completion next year.
The Mycklemossen site, SE-Myc, is a pristine temperate bog—one of the few closely monitored for GHG fluxes. This makes SE-Myc an invaluable addition to the ICOS network. Continued measurements through the SITES thematic programs will further enhance our understanding of this critical ecosystem.
